Meet the Cast

Matty Mahoney - The Engineer
The Engineer is a rugged, aged man in his 50s. He is well-built and strong at an average height and wears a dirty uniform and a vest. As the revolutionist anti-hero, he is brave, temperamental, and strong headed. In the film, he is primarily vengeful, aggravated at the war, and confrontational about losing his son. He is disobedient but acts as the dominant figure as he is morally justified. He represents the multitude; wanting to live peacefully and work hard on something that does not devastate others. He is a victim of superior orders, but also of his own emotional turmoil and anger.

Mario Albu - The General
The General is a clean, well-groomed, middle-class man who is physically fit and of average height. He is adorned in pristine shirt and trousers. Whilst he is working for his government and country, he is cowardly – fearing physical confrontation and going into war himself. Additionally, he is selfish and meek. He rose to his position through his intellect and education as well as his social status. He acts as the unaware villain, not realising the orders he gives ruin lives of others under his command. Due to his rank, he lives comfortably and is disconnected from the reality of war and how pointless it is; the way it affects the lives of soldiers and their families.
